Choose the Adventure

Reepicheep (mouse): The thrill of the unknown lies ahead!
Eustace (boy): Couldn’t this have waited till morning?
Reepicheep (mouse): There is no honour in turning away from adventure, lad.”

That’s an excerpt from ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader’ (The best of the three movies, highly recommend it!).

Eustace is the cousin that got ‘dragged’ into the adventure. He never asked for it. In contrast, Reepicheep is a brave mouse with a mighty little sword in his hand. Reepicheep embraces adventure and runs towards it, very unlike Eustace. They’ve just arrived at a strange island and that was the dialogue between a mouse and a boy (Ironic, right?).

I’m Eustace inside (So sad).
I find it extremely hard to step out into the unknown. I have never been known for taking risks. I’ve played safe most of my life. And so God in His ever loving way has been whispering the word ‘Adventure’ in my ears for a while now. He’s been telling me that life with Him is an adventure.
It’s always going to be an adrenaline rush, a loud and fast-beating heart and a thousand yeses. Most days will look like you’re walking on a tightrope.
But you’ll always make it safely to the other side.

So I took the first nerve-wracking step out of the boat. Afraid I’d sink only to learn I could walk on water. I thought it would get easier with every step. But every step took crazy faith and a lot of fixing my eyes on Jesus and the promises He made.

If you feel the tug in your heart, the whisper of more and the promises of God surrounding you, you’re set up for adventure!

Can I add something more? (of course, I can! It’s my blog!)
If you’re brave enough to say yes, you will see how God will lead you every step of the way.
Mountains will crumble.
Doors will open.
Grace will pave the way.
All of those giants will fall with a tiny rock.
It’s as if you’re a warrior suddenly. People will see you as brave and courageous. But you’ll know that Heaven is behind all of this, you’ll know with everything inside of you that only God could have orchestrated this. You won’t be able to hold back this story. All the adventures you’ve had with Him and will have with Him – It will be one the world has never heard. A story with you and God. It will be a glorious tale! I can hear the crowd raising a ‘Hallelujah’ at your victories already.

In this adventure, you’ll see Him face to face. It won’t be a story you’ve read or a movie you saw in the distance. He will be so near and so tangible.
There are many who’ve gone before you and they bear witness that it’s worth it all. Every fire and storm was worth His presence.

So will you say ‘Yes’?
Take the risk. Go on this adventure. You won’t regret it.
The thrill of the unknown lies ahead!

I wanna go further
Beyond what I can see
Over the horizon
Is where you’re taking me
I wanna live louder
And shout across the land
Jesus forever

You dare me to believe what I can’t see
You ask me to be bold and face my fears
You push back my horizons
I’m chasing you forever

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us again. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us.
1 Corinthians 1:8-10

With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles; he sees the form of the Lord. Numbers 12:8

No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:37
